The purpose of this blog...

I've developed this blog to provide an area for people to discuss items related to the world of art and the teaching of art. Just like everything else in the world, art is going through many changes. One of the biggest things that is changing is the adaptation of technology to create art. Many artists are using technology. I will discuss items related to this or other items I may find important. I will also share technology tools that I find useful to other areas as well.

Discussion Reflection

I found the class discussion interesting and engaging. I enjoyed learning how to use Second Life. After being on there with other members of the class, I learned enough about the program to use it pretty freely. The main thing I was struggling with is finding out what key's do what, but once I found out it was rather easy. I think it's something I could adapt while teaching art. For one... it deals with animation in itself. Also, there's artwork on display there and I could use it to show/hold discussions with my students. The program would be hard to digital immigrants, but I grew up with the first Nintendo... so I catch on rather quick!

The link above is for art news from Second Life Artists. It is so neat to see this other world of art. I would like to share this with my students.

Artwork being sold on Second Life

This article (linked above) talks about how the art world has grown in Second Life. There are people selling artwork they designed or placed on the web to sell. What a fascinating way to market yourself!!!
