The purpose of this blog...

I've developed this blog to provide an area for people to discuss items related to the world of art and the teaching of art. Just like everything else in the world, art is going through many changes. One of the biggest things that is changing is the adaptation of technology to create art. Many artists are using technology. I will discuss items related to this or other items I may find important. I will also share technology tools that I find useful to other areas as well.

Reflection for 6/16/08 Emerging Tech

One of the most resourceful tools I learned in the class on Monday, was the Google documents and page creator. I didn't even know that these tools existed before today. I really like the fact that you can create surveys that go into a database right after the students/teachers (anyone) complete the online survey. I had the students complete a survey about what they wanted to do in the art class at the beginning of the last school year. I looked at them briefly to get an overview, but I didn't get the most out of content that was given to me. By having the students complete the survey online, I can have the information put into one document that I can find a common thread. While flipping through the various hard copied surveys, the only way you sort the information is by typing or writing the results yourself, which isn't practical with 100 students. I look forward to adapting this tool to have students complete their survey at the beginning of the year.
